If someone offered me a million, heck, even a billion dollars to give up gaming, I’d pass in a second. I’ve been gaming for almost 2 decades now, and it’s not that I don’t enjoy other stuff; I just don’t enjoy it as much.
Some might label me as lazy, a violent psycho, or a loner, but there are a lot of reasons gaming tops my list of pastime activities. In this article, I’m going to share some of them with you. Who knows? I might just convince you to give it a go, and maybe we could even play a few games together someday.
I’ve got a great multiplayer collection. So, let’s begin!
Social Element
Some people call us loners, but if only they knew how many of us there are and how easily we interact with each other, in games and beyond, they might reconsider that label.
There are a ton of online multiplayer games that can help you socialize and make friends all around the world, as long as you have an internet connection. A decade ago, multiplayer games weren’t as common, since the internet was still an emerging technology.
Now, we have fast and reliable internet, allowing us to not only play games but also talk to our team at the same time. With game sizes growing by the minute, it’s important that you opt for a fast internet connection, so you can get into your favorite game whenever you want.
I personally use one of the high-tier Xfinity internet plans, and I recommend you do the same if you’re looking for a reliable internet connection for gaming.
That’s not all!
There are a lot of gamer communities on platforms like Reddit, Discord, and Twitch, to name a few.
Whether it’s sharing information on the latest releases, making predictions on what to expect in upcoming games, or even walking through the gameplay, we gamers have a lot of social avenues to connect with each other.
Love for A Challenge
If us gamers were so lazy, would we love a challenge? Well, most of us do, myself included.
Imagine you’re playing Valorant with your friends, each of you need to plan strategies to get through difficult situations. That’s not all, each of you also need to be at your best in terms of making quick decisions, aiming targets precisely, and displaying razor-sharp reflexes to make it through a challenge.
Another factor that makes gaming even more challenging, at least for me, is the unpredictability. You never know who’s going to pop up and when, and you need to be prepared long before.
I can’t get over the high of the adrenaline rush this unpredictability brings to a game. The planning, quick decision-making, and preparing for the unexpected are skills that you can sharpen through gaming and even apply to other parts of life.
Accepting Everyone
You might think that we gamers are very specific about who to play with, well, you might want to think again.
There’s no gender, religion, disability, or age-based discrimination in the gamer community. There might be fun little jabs at each other, but we always welcome potential gaming partners from all walks of life.
Guess what? I even met my fiancé through a game, talk about a match made in Fortnite heaven.
This is what fuels the social element that I mentioned earlier. A judgment-free space where people come together to enjoy a mutual interest, make lifelong connections, and some great memories, I mean, wouldn’t you enjoy being a part of that? I sure do!
A Lot of Flexibility
You can find any type of game you’re interested in, horror, adventure, fantasy, you name it, it’s there.
Even simple ideas like Candy Crush, we all know how the ladies went crazy for this one. Your options aren’t limited to a specific platform either; you can play on mobile, PC, or gaming consoles, based on your skills and needs.
What I love most is that just when you think that there could be no better game than the one you’re playing, BOOM! Out drops another banger!
The cycle continues, creating another form of unpredictability that I’m all for!
Each experience levels up on my last and keeps me hooked like a fish on a rod. For example, just take a look at the Uncharted series, every new entry introduced much better graphics and gameplay mechanics, bigger environments, and even more realistic character interactions than the one before.
Gaming – My Heaven on Earth
So, there you have it my friend. These are the main reasons why I consider gaming my little piece of heaven on earth.
The chance to meet new people from around the world, navigate through unpredictable challenges together, the flexible range of platforms and titles, all make gaming my favorite pastime activity.
If all the reasons I’ve shared above have you feeling even a tiny bit inspired to join the gaming community, I’d say go for it! There’s a ton of existing games you can get your hands on, another ton of new ones on the way, plus something tells me you might already have a potential gaming partner waiting for you.
